I never thought you could make such sites with joomla; purely amazing.

09.10.09

I try Joomla before but its very complicated for a designer like me :(

I ended up using WordPress in my site and blog.

And voted for your great post in my community: http://www.jamirdesign.com/community/story/65

Cheers!

j000 Reply:

Me too I didn’t like joomla and I never thought it could look this good but I think from now I should create beautiful looking joomla themes. Thanks for voting our link I voted too :)

Every CMS has it’s place, WordPress as a Blog, Magento as E-Commerce. The nice thing about Joomla is that it seems to fit into each and every place!!

We work mainly with Joomla, developing from-scratch websites and custom components as needed. There is just so much you can do with it, endless possibilities. So glad to see others realizing and using the full potential!

Complicated?

In WordPress you need to know PHP, in Joomla you need to know CSS/XHTML :P
Joomla Templating doesn’t require PHP hacks/tweaks.

Excelent collection!
Thanks for sharing.

j000 Reply:

So joomla is more flexible you think?

MAD Reply:

I have worked with both Joomla and WordPress; and so far WordPress seem to be easier to implement. Although I did a couple of Joomla sites; still need to learn more about this great tool. These inspirational sites have shown me that with imagination; everything is possible!

I agree with Pam that each tool has its uses. I though in the e-commerce arena only oscommerce or zen-cart are the best choices; strange to hear a new joiner “Magento”; I need to explore that :)

MarcoBarbosa Reply:

I’m not sure if “flexible” is the word.

But in WordPress you need to add php loops and echos
In Joomla you need a template tag where you want to display what you want.

It’s hard to find a easier templating system than Joomla, really.
ModX has something similar, just include the tags in the template and you’re good to go.

Scanned the list and the only big name that jumped out at me was Porsche. On a somewhat related note, compare that to Drupal, http://socialcmsbuzz.com/45-drupal-sites-which-you-may-not-have-known-were-drupal-based-24092008/

MarcoBarbosa Reply:

This Drupal showcase is amazing.

Too bad is not as easier as it looks.

But Drupal is still Drupal :)

I don’t think foehn is Joomla. I see ASP and Jquery menu.

j000 Reply:

It was listed as Joomla but my question can’t ASP and jQuery be integrated into Joomla? Perhaps this developer did it we’ll need to hear from the source if this Joomla or not. Until it’s proven otherwise, it stays as Joomla :P

Thanks for sharing this. It’s an important addition to my own library of themes and designs. I’ve also featured this article in my brand new Posterous site here.

hebamme-in-mannheim is based on yootheme template pinboard
ScrapCracklePop is based on rockettheme template vertigo

credit should go to them.

Hi Friends!

I am really happy to see my site here in that collection! (24. naranchdesign)

For some people who are starting:
If you have the good basis of HTML, CSS and a little PHP it won’t be a hard job to learn how to create a template that you can imagine in JOOMLA!
Sometimes it recommends a little “Googling” around the web but after some months you will be perfect!

If you need some help you can also write to me!

In fact they have some very good templates on http://joomla-best-templates.com.

Hey that’s my site… Thank you!

09.10.09

This collection is GREAT! Like others, I’ve bookmarked it for references and inspiration. My site is still on the old Joomla, but I’m redoing it in CSS & 1.5+. It’s amazing what flexibility CSS allows you to do. Until this week (really getting into CSS) I could not imagine living without tables. :)

Anyone use OpenLaszlo to help create their site?

09.10.09

Thas pretty intesting. I have been using wordpress as a new designer, but think I may have to explore joomla thanks

Alice Reply:

Me too. I want to build one more site with Joomla. Actually, now I already did it. It’s still in progress. The site will be used as my online store. However, still searching the theme that will work fit with my site. – lalala seems to be a nonsense word. See some stats and a survey on http://www.keyr.com/analysis/xxxxxx.html

I love site no.7. It looks elegant, simple, and strong. It’s black and have some gradient color between black and grey. Black is my favorite. Impotenz is not my business.
